I'm installing an Autopage RS-750lcd on a 1997 GMC yukon 2-door...

The RS-750lcd has a 10A, 12V output for the parking light flash option.  I would like to add a 30A Relay so that I don't exceed this 10A ceiling if my boat trailer is hooked up.  My question is:

1. Should I consider this, i.e. would a trailer overload this circuit?

2.  What would the relay schematic be for this setup?

3.  Can I just tap the parking light wire at the headlight switch as opposed to cutting the wire and making one lead 30 and the other 87a?

Thanks,

--JJ

Using a relay will only isolate the CPU of RS750 from the parking light circuit. You can use the realy but it will not be necessary. If you do want to as a precaution you can use this relay configuration:

Positive to Positive Relay Diagram

This will isolate the parking light wire of the RS750 from the parking light circuit of the Chevy.

So I can just tap the parking light wire (without cutting it) with the 10A output from the RS-750 and I should be in business?

Thanks,

You can count on about 2 amps per light.  Chances are your fuse will blow on the park light circuit of your starter if you don't isolate it.  Depending on how heavy the wires are on the park light output and the internal components you could likely just get away with changing the fuse to a 15A or 20A which would be more then enough.

In other words, add an inline fuse to the output of the RS-750?

Yes, there should be one on there from factory seeing that it is an alarm as well. Fuse the positve wire at 10 amps.
