I tried hooking up the two relay system you have posed but it did not work. I have an after market radio with a hot wire and a acc. wire. The door plunger on my 66 mustang has two wires going to it. one is constant hot and one is switched to hot when the door is opened. The interior light bulb asembley is grounded to the body under the dash. I guess when the door opens the constant hot connects to the second wire in the plunger switch and makes the connection to turn on the interior light. I tried to connect the wire from the relay that goes to the door switch and it did not work, I also tried to connect the same wire to the ground at the bulb assembly and that did not work. Does anyone have any idea how to hook this up. I will try to attach a diagram of the ford wiring diagram.

As shown in my diagram, it requires a negative door trigger. You have a positive door trigger. The positive door trigger diagram can be found here: https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp~TID~91364

Hi I tried to hook the relay’s up like you have in the diagram, but it did not work. I used two diodes from Radio Shack # 1N40001. And hooked them up like the diagram. I am not real electrically savvy. What I did not understand was where to connect the accessory wire from switch. What switch? I must sound real dumb, but I am persistent in getting this project to work. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bob
