I know how to wire up this relay but I took a class at MERA and the rockford guys said they always use a diode so that it doesn't backfeed. Anyone know where to put it and which way it goes?

30 - remote to amps or accessories
85 - ground
86 - turn on lead from head unit
87 - 12 v +
87a- N/A

Thanks!!!

Across 85 and 86    The band of the diode on power.

How does this work? I called RF (Know a guy that works there) and he says Put the diode on the output (30 pin on relay) w/ the black portion facing the input and the white line facing the output.

I have no idea what they are trying to achieve by putting it there.  The purpose of across 85 and 86 is to eliminate the pop in the audio system everytime the relay is turned off.  A diode has a current rating, you need to make sure it will handle the current of your devices if you put it where the Rockford guy tells you.
