first: I noticed that on my trunk light there are 3 wires, ground and 2 green power wires, why is there 2?
also, I have a rear view camera that turns on when in reverse, I also want to put a manual switch so that I can turn it on at will, how do I do that (do I need a relay or something) or do I simply add another power wire from the switch to the camera? what happens if the switch is on also when I put it in reverse, will it get double power ate ruin the camera?
I used 12" Cold Cathode lights under the seats and under the dash to get this affect, anybody else use these before? and what was your experience,,,,,,good or bad? I am also putting one in the trunk, but I found 2 green power wires connected to the current light? what is that all about?
I would suggest using a relay to apply power to the reverse input on the screen/video control unit.
Get a switch and wire one side to ground
Wire the other side fo the switch to Pin 85 of a relay
Pin 86 of relay goes to switched 12vdc
Pin 30 goes to reverse input towards screen/video control unit (you have to cut the reverse wire)
Pin 87A goes to reverse input towards transmission (you have to cut the reverse wire)
Pin 87 goes to switched 12vdc
By using a relay you won't have to worry about turning your reverse lights on each time the switch is on. You could also do this with diodes.
It's hard to say why the light has three wires going to it - possibly a ground, a power, and a switched on/off signal?
