I am using 94 silverado, 4.3L, auto, steering column in street rod. Any help in deciphering column wires would be greatly appreciated.

1994 Chevrolet C/K Pickup Alarm, Remote Starter, Keyless Entry Wiring Information | Constant 12V+ | Red | Ignition Switch Harness | Starter | Purple | Ignition Switch Harness | Ignition | Pink | Ignition Switch Harness | Accessory | Orange | Ignition Switch Harness |
The above are the wires on the ignition switch. How many other wires are there in the other harnesses? Are you willing to do a little footwork tracing the other wires to let me know where they go?

What controls are on the column? Blinkers, cruise control, horn, hi-lo beam switch? You may need to let me know which wires go to which of the switches.

Wel, as far as I can tell it contains: horn, wiper motor with intermittent, mist and washer, hi-lo and the ignition. The color code you gave me is not what I have directy on the column. The major column switch has 4 wires: large yellow (starter?), pink, red and brown. Also, a 3 wire switch contains red, orange and green (smaller of the 3 wires). Any help?

On the major switch the larger wire is probably the constant wire that feeds the switch. To find this out you will need to get an ohm meter and put it to the diode test function. Following is a symbol for a diode.
Attach one lead to the larger wire and turn the key to the accessory position. Touch the other lead to the remaining 3 wires (one at a time). One of these wires should make your meter beep at you. Turn key off and it should quit beeping. Label this wire as Accessory. Turn the key to the run position, touch the lead to each of the 2 remaining wires, the one that makes the meter beep is Ignition. Attach the lead to the remaining wire and turn key to start position, if it beeps label it as starter wire.
