wiring info for 2001 toyota tacoma prerunner xtra cab. In particular I'm trying to access 3rd brake light wires for my camper shell without removing entire headline. Thanks

Stand in the bed of the truck, remove the third brake light,  access the wires and run your new wire to the drivers or passenger side of the vehicle.  Then you will only have to remove one piece of the headliner to access your new wire.

surprising there isnt somewhere on the vehicle designed to be tapped for this purpose. many pickups i've seen have a wiring tail somewhere accessible (usually under the bed near the taillights) for exactly this purpose. might be something to research. or why not tie into the trailer wiring?

thanks for your reply,I ended up just accessing from the trucks brake lights. Much easier than messing with the headliner.

indeed it is much easier that way. glad to hear it worked out. hope you put some kind of quick disconnect type of plug where the wiring meets the camper, so that when you need to remove it you can just unplug the brake light wiring.
