I have been wanting to do this for a long time but just don't really know how to go about it... I'd like to have a momentary button installed in my truck that flashes the reverse lights when pressed. Any ideas on how to do this?
Thanks in advance,
David

Sorry but your name actually really does apply to me when it comes to schematics like this. Can you try and explain a little more in detail for me? I'm not sure what that box is with all the wires running to it... is it a relay or something and is it already on my truck?
Sorry for being so remedial...

Great, that kinda clears it up! Do you think that there are any local shops that may have that relay? Like maybe Radio Shack or somewhere like that.
Thanks again,
David

Or better yet, could you check www.RadioShack.com and see if there's anything that would work? I'd rather just go pick it up tomorrow if they have it.

You will have to find one at a stereo shop in your area. Just make sure it has 5 terminals on it. You may try an auto parts store. It was for many years known as a Bosch SPDT automotive relay. They have been bought out by Tyco. Print the picture from the partsexpress page and someone at Autozone should be able to help you. Just make sure it has 5 terminals. There are some that have only 4 terminals. It will not work for your application. If you have a 4X4 shop open on sundays, they use the same relays for fog lights. RadioShack has a suitable relay but it is available On Web Only. They do have the 4 terminal units in the store.

Thanks for all your help! I really do appreciate it as I've been wondering how to do this for over a year.
Step two... finding the time to actually do it.
Thanks again!

I called AutoZone and they have one so I'm on my way to pick it up. Where should I cut the wire going to the reverse lights?... somewhere around the fuse for it?
Thanks,
David
