Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me!   I have a 2005 Dakota and I need to locate the speed wire to complete the installation of my Pioneer AVIC-N5 in-dash DVD navigation system.   Can anyone please tell me where to find it and what color it is?  Thanks!

Actually, I have one more question. Is that the same ORANGE / white wire that goes to the OBDII connecter under the dash? Basically what I'm getting at is I'd rather tie into it somewhere under the dash than running a wire to tie into it under the hood. Thanks :)

There is a really good chance that it is at the OBD also.  Stick your positive meter lead on that wire in the OBD, ground the black lead of the meter.  Set the meter to AC Volts, drive the car, notice if the reading on the meter increases as your speed increases.  If so then yes that is the correct wire.  The voltage on that wire is actually a pulsating DC voltage, so if no reading on AC volts, depending on the quality of your meter, you may have to set it to DC volts to get a reading.  So if either setting gets you an increasing voltage when accelerating, it is the correct wire.

Yup, took my truck for a spin with the meter and the WHITE/ orange wire showed an increase of voltage with an increase in speed. It's going to be much easier to just tap into that wire at the ODB data connection point under the dash (about 2 feet from where the navigation system is) than under the hood. Thanks again for your help! :)
