I bought a Kicker DX700 and a ZX 460 for my BMW 535I a while ago and have been having nothing but problems with them. Where do I have to ground out my system. Something happened to the DX 700 so I sent it back and Stillwater fixed it and sent it back. I have not yet re-installed for fear that the ground that I drilled and cleaned away is not good enough. I also get engine noise through my speakers from the ZX 460 so I know that the ground sucks. If you know anything about this grounding problem please respond and help me fix my system. Tahnk You Chad..
you could just go to the batt. it is very close to the truck and tha should also get rid of your engine noise.
VERY good idea! I always forget the battery is in the back in those vehicles. If you do decide to go that route, I'd use the biggest gauge ground wire you can find, Like 1/0 gauge if possible. Run the wire from the negative terminal to a distro. block near the amps, then run a smaller ground to each amp from the distro block.
It's not guaranteed to get rid of the engine noise but it's definitely something I would recommend trying first, and if anything else it'll just make your install look a lil bit cleaner. If it still doesn't get rid of the noise, make sure your signal and power cables are run down opposite sides of the vehicle. Also make sure the head unit has a good ground, and you might have to ground the signal cables as a last resort.
