Hello!

I have a 2000 Mercury Cougar V6 2.5

A while ago I bought an alarm system for my car (with a remote starter). Then it started to educt and lead to that the car battery was always empty so I measured the eduction and decided one day to remove the system from the car because of too much eduction. After I removed the system there was no eduction and everything was fine.

Then one day I floored the car which lead to that the battery check-light went on in the dashboard (wth?). That meant that the alternator had gone. I took the alternator for repairing (they cleaned it and changed coals) and the problem disappeared. Few weeks later the same problem started again and the battery check-light went on again. I took the alternator again for repairing and the problem was solved for a few weeks, then the same problem started again.

I finally gave up, ordered a new alternator (with the voltage regulator builtin) and put it in. Now the light in the dashboard is off but the lights everywhere (dashboard, headlights, etc.) are flickering like the alternator gives various voltage.

I'm afraid if I drive the car with the lights flickering, the new alternator will break, because of various voltage.

Have you any idea what could be wrong?

I was also wondering if you know where to find the wiring diagram online for this car?

Thank you very much!

Who installed the Alarm/RS...Who de-installed the Alarm/R/S? How was the unit connected to the car...t-taps...poke wrap...solder...What type of By-pass did you use for factory security?
