Hello, my name is Jason and first of all I wanna say thanks to everyone who makes this site one of the best by far.

Now as the Subject line reads ;I have a 01 focus that...Well, to be quick 2 amps (1 mono and 1 4ch) a sub box and all door speakers have been upgraded. Oh, and a 2 or 3 farad cap but, this post is not to stir up the ya's and nay's on caps. lol posted_image

The car had or has been running fine and the stereo, well "Steller" will do for now on the stereo. So, I wanted to go to this car show so I re- ran most of the wiring to make it look presentable and hooked the battery up put in the key, turned a couple of clicks and....

Suprise: The radio and amps worked great!

Then, I cranked it up and it turns right over and then immediatly goes dead. It does stay running if I apply a very small amount of gas but, of course I had to ride the break all the way home from my friends garage. I had the battery checked: it's 100% and was new anyways as is the alternator which I tested with my neighbor and a voltmeter to see if it was over or under charging and it stayed right in rand w/ any and everything going and my buddy throttling the engine slightly. I checked every ground a circuit I put in and it has 0 voltage loss. I though maybe I pulled something loose from a previous alarm install from a shop but, I am @ a total lose...

Any person will and idea or question please feel free to help out. I would greatly appreciate it.

Every place that you ran a wire, you need to inspect all wiring in those areas to see if you knocked a harness loose.  Under the hood, look for a vacuum line that may have been knocked off while running your power wires.   Also did you make any new connections to any ignition powered wire?  Such as amp remote wire or switched wire of an aftermarket radio?

Thanks a lot for the reply....
I have gone over every connection I can think of twice and everything is solid. I checked for a loose hose under the hood also and nothing.
However, I believe the alarm and/or radio may be cut into the grn / YELLOW starter wire. If so is this the problem and what should I do.?
Thanks again

Starter wire being cut wouldn't have this effect, it only goes live whilst cranking the engine, look for ign wire disabled or shorting at some point, also thoroughly check ALL plugs in the engine bay and all management e.g. ECU boxes,  lastly on the UK Focus there's a grounding wire going to the rear of the trunk. This grounds the fuel pump. It's possible you may have used this position as a ground for your amps, nothing wrong there but did you replace the original wire?  Not haveing a go, we've all done it.

I'm not in the UK but, where exactly is this fuel pump ground because I am not hearing it cut on when I turn on the key (w/ someone outside listening of course......)

And, thanks for your input.

I think I found it on the very back of the trunk but, sadly it was intact and I drilled and bolted my amps and stuff to the frame...sigh!posted_image

Is this a stock alt and battery or upgraded. If stock people here and my self would recommend doing the big 3. This might fix your problem.
