The audible BING BING of this car is terrible. How can I disable the audible BING and hopefully leave the FLASHING light on the dash ? I tried disconnecting the harness under the seat but it thinks there is no airbag. The must be a simple solution. Does anyone have the pinout of the underseat connector ?
Call the dealership and tell them that you have trouble latching your seatbelt, because of it's location. Tell them it is so close to the console or whatever it is closest to. They will have an extension available that will latch into the factory belt and has the appropriate latch on the other end to accomodate the belt latch. Or try and find one at a salvage yard so you can cut the latch off of it and insert it into yours.
OK. Hmm. maybe you can explain how that helps ? I truly want to actually use the seat belt itself. I've been in two car accidents in the past and once without a seat belt. That was the last time I forgot to wear one. The thing I am trying to accomplish is that if I unlatch the belt when pulling into the drive way or start driving away and am going SLOW. The darn thing just BING, BING, BINGs away! Then it get obnoxious and starts to bing faster and faster. Then it stops. I do not want to defeat the belt only the audible alarm. Not the flashing lights on the dash etc... The has to be either somthing to disconnect the binging or yes defeat the safety switch under the seat somehow. On anu older car I has all I had to do was disconnect one wire/plug and that was that. But it looks like there are multiple things tied to the seat now. LIke the airbag and who knows what else... for instance the passenger side has the weight detection switch that turns off the airbag if you don't weight enought to engage the switch. Sorry for the long reply but I wanted to be clear on my objective. Thanks for the reply and suggestions.
The switch in the seat belt latch will kill both the light and the buzzer. If you want the light to remain working, you will have to locate the buzzer and disable it. However it will probably be the same device that lets you know the key is in the ignition and your lights are on when exiting the car.
Ahhh. I see. thanks for the tip. Will have to think on that one. The switch on the seatbelt latch seems most reasonable. I don't want to disbale the buzzer entirely. Do you any any idea if the seatbelt switch is normally open or closed ? the one I did years ago was normally closed and putting the belt in openend the contacts. this was a simple fix by pulling the wire to the switch (under the seat). I will just give it a try. thanks for ally your help and replies!
I have no idea if it will be open or closed. But I am fairly certain that it goes to ground. If you have an Ohm meter, set it to ohms and place and hold the black lead to the chassis of the vehicle. Now touch the red lead to each wire in the plug and notice the reading. Now latch the seat belt and repeat, there will be one wire that has a totally different reading than it had the first go round.
