Mods if this is not in the correct forum, please move and let me know. I couldn't decide the best location.

Ok so had a chance to disassemble a new 09 Ford F150. This is a little bit more work than previous model years and if done incorrectly you could probably snap a piece.

Start by dropping the glove box.

There should be 3 10mm bolts? holding the passenger air bag in by looking straight up inside the glovebox. (Remove them)

Now CAREFULLY pull out the airbag and move to the side (Do not remove the airbag harness)

Behind this there should be an 8mm? bolt holding in the right side panel. (remove it)

Now look above the radio and remove the plastic tray and there should be some screws underneath.

Move to the instrument cluster and remove bolts above it and remove them and the cluster area.

From here it should be straight forward. But this will help any damage hopefully. Also they just started a can-bus system this year for this model, so make sure you have the correct harness/kit/antenna adapter.

Interestingly, I did sat-navs on a pair of Lightenings 3 and 2 years ago. The older one had a VSS (BLACK / YELLOW, BLACK/ green) in the radio loom, the second need a CAN bus interface at the OBD ll plug.

approximately how long did it take you to do this install?

Well since it was my first one and I had no instructions about an hour. Otherwise I would say about 15 minutes of dis-assembly.

Really? I did a lightning a while back and it just needed the regular ford 98+ harness. I think it was an 03.
