I hope I have posted this in the correct place. I'm a bit on the desprute side here. I just bought a 2002 Mazda B3000 which I hear is the same as a Ford Ranger, and the horn and the cruise control don't work. The guy that had it, ( A Kid) ran it into a post in front of a store and set off the air bag. The airbag was replaced with one from a Ranger. I took it out and it wasn't hooked up. Problem is I was looking to see if the horn had not been reconnected and it was. I cannot find out what fuses control what because nothing is marked like it used to be. They put numbers on them and you are supposed to have a book telling you whats what. Problem is there's no book with the truck and I and my wife are out of a job and we don't have the money to spend on one. I guess what my Question is, is Does anyone have the information I need to fide out what fuses control what on this truck and could you supply me with it? I'm sorry if I went the long way around this. I should have just asked straight out. Thanks, Duey

Old school I'm afraid, ignition on, test light or meter, check all the fuses, also see if you can get a free download of any tech info off the web. Would the airbag problem have affected any steering column wiring?

I tested everything and all the fuses seem to be good, Looked for missing fuses and found 1 but didn't help. theres just no power too the horn or the airbag and I have no idea where the power comes from. tested everything with the key on too, nothing. This is driving me nuts. I need to get the truck inspected, if it wasn't for that I probably wouldn't worry about it. hardly ever use the horn anyway. They've made it ilegal to use it other than for an emergency anyway. They even made it ilegal to drive in the left lane here unless your passing in it. Thats just bull if you ask me. I'll do it and act dumb I guess.lol. Seems like every auto I buy doesn't have a book with it or an extra key. wonder whats up with that? I have a 93 Dakota that has it, and this 02 mazda don't. HuH!

Not sure of the rules...But couldnt you just wire in to the existing horn...Add your own switch...?

I stil think the problem's in the steering column but tommy has the right idea. Take a look at the horns. Two wires going into each horn. 1 wire will be a constant ground, the other should be going to 12v+ when horn button pressed. OR the other way round. 1 will be constant 12v+, or constant when ignition is on the other should go to ground when horn button depressed. If it's the first case, 15amp fuse to push switch to NON ground side of horn(s). If 2nd case, ground to push switch to non 12volt side of horn(s)

Hooking up a horn button was gonna be a last resort, I really am a guy that likes things to work the way they are supposed too. But, if I can't figure it out I'll have to do something for it to pass inspection. Sometimes they don't check it, but this would be one of those times. Thanks

Have you visually inspected the horn itself? If the vehcile had been wrecked on the front end it is possible that the horn(s) were either damaged or not put back in when fixed.

That was the first thing I checked. I've gone as far as take them out and check them on the battery, they work. The problem is no power to the steering wheel. I wonder if the horn only works when the truck is running? That would be about the only thing I haven't done. Beats me. I really just need to know where the power is coming from as fas as fuses or relays. I guess I'll have to find me a book somewhere. thanks

Not sure what I did, if I did anything, but the horn tries to sound when I locked it for the night, first time its done that. But, it still don't work on the steering wheel. I don't know!

Since the airbag was replaced, what are the chances the horn wire did not get reconnected to the switch in the steering wheel? Audiovox has this info for the vehicle. | Horn | | YELLOW/LIGHT GREEN | | (-) | | STEERING COLUMN |
If you find this wire, try grounding it to see if your horm blows.

I dought this would be right, but is it possible that the horn doesn't work because the airbag is not connected? Not sure if they have anything to do with each other or not, like I said, I dought it very seriously.

I know the airbag and horn are not related. Since they changed (or removed) the airbag, maybe they forgot to plug the horn wire back to the switch when they were changing the airbag.
