I just got a new stereo for my 04 santa fe and I hooked it up with a harness I got online, and when I powered it up, it worked, the unit had power and looked good, but no sound at all. I checked around, and I see an amp under the passenger seat. I know that I didnt hook up a wire for amp power, so I have no idea which wire it would be. any ideas which wire in the factory harness to hook up for the amp power?

Thanks in advance.

Does the harness have a wire labeled power antenna?   If so connect the blue/white wire of your new radio to that wire.

Monsoon system. As said above hook up your blue/white wires.

the harness that came with the radio has a blue\white wire, but the OEM radio doesnt seem to have a wire for power antenna. what should I connect the wire from the harness to? I had bought a 3rd party harness connector to connect the new radio.

Is there a wire in the vehicles harness that goes to a blank spot on the harness that you purchased?  If so, connect your OEM radio back to the vehicles harness.  Turn the radio on and using a volt meter verify that there is 12 volts on that wire when the radio is powered up.  Then make sure the votage goes down to 0 when the radio is powered off.  If that wire meets both criteria, it is your amplifier turn on wire.  Connect it to the Blue/White wire of your new radio.

Good lord! Back to Volvo installs in the early 90s BI (before interfaces) Do you two remember the Toyotas with 2 antenna triggers?

Why yes I do.  I do not remember the wire colors, but I do remember where the wires are in the harness.  Were they Red and Green?    I just looked at the wiring for the 82 to 85 celica, and the colors are Red and Black.  The 2 wire colors that scream "Do not connect us together"

Craig wasn't one RED / black? Ah how the memories dim.

I really do not remember the colors. I just remember that one was on the corner of the plug and the other was the second pin in on the other row of connections.

I have to ask and no it hasn't kept me up at night all these years but why 2 antenna triggers? Jap factory antennae always seemed to have a million wires! Surely all you needed was power ground and trigger?

That was it, there was a blue/orange wire that had no power normally, but when the head unit was powered, it switched to power. I hooked it up and it works. Thanks for the help.
