I received a CM 3000 today minus the pager and just enough of the wiring harness to help identify each wire from a junked 1995 Chevy Silverado. I want to install it in my 1993 Silverado. I have downloaded the installation manuals. I have an electronics background so the wiring will not be an issue.

As I read the manual it mentions relays. If that is so can I fabricate a set of standard relays to replace the lost ones?

Also where can I get a full wiring diagram and a replacement pager.

Thanks in advance.

Tony

If you are looking for the trucks wires, try Bulldog at  https://www.bulldogsecurity.com/bdnew/vehiclewiringdiagrams.asp

This site also has wire info at  https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/alarmdetail/477.html

As for relays, I would purchase those.  You need SPDT relays rated for 30 amps for IGN2 and starter kill ( if you want to add starter kill ).  Also your truck has Type C door locks so you need a couple of relays for that.

On the remotes...  Did you get the antenna and its harness?  On the antenna is a model #.  That will determine what type of remotes will work with it.  Usually its 1 way AM, 1 Way FM or 2 Way FM.  If you didn't get the antenna, you can buy a Remote/Antenna kit that will work on the CM3000 brain.

Thank you so much.  I did not get the antenna.  I think I saw it when they took it out, but wasn't sure so maybe I will go back to the junk yard today, weather permitting, and see if I can find it.  Regardless, the wires were cut so I'd have to order one anyway.

Again, thanks for your response.

Even if the wires were cut, if you get the entire harness, you can solder the two halves together.  There are 4 wires and they are color coded.  Remotes can be found on EBay, both new and used.  Of course, for the cost of 2 remotes you can probably get the entire Remote/Antenna kit, which includes the antenna harness.

Once again thanks.

I went back over to the junk yard and tried to find the antenna.  It wasn't there. One entire side of the pickup is now missing.  I can only asssume someone had a higher interest in the engine parts and didn't care how they got them.  I still have the wires from the connector to about 1 foot and yes it is color coded, but it may as well be tossed from what you're telling me.

One more question.

I have tried to Google and came up with several hits, but am not sure what model I need.  You stated that my model could be  "1 way AM, 1 Way FM or 2 Way FM."  If I take the 4 screws out, will this give me a better understanding of the antenna/remote type?  If so, what should I look for?

Opening up the brain won't help.  Compustar sells the units as modular systems.  You buy the remote start or alarm brain and then you buy the remote/antenna system that fits your needs.

I am not totally familiar with the CM3000 series.  I am installing the newer FT5200s and FT6200s units.  That being said, I believe your brain can use almost any 4 pin antenna connector type remote.  The basic style is the one way AM.  It is the least expensive and gives a range of around 1000 feet.  The next step up is the one way FM remote.  They are good to about 3000 feet.  Then you can get into the two way remotes that will give an audio or visual confirmation from the car when a button is pressed.

As an example, here is an auction on EBay for the basic AM style.  Before your buy anything, ask the seller if this unit will work on your CM3000 model brain.

Depending on your needs and wallet you can go from basic remote FOB to fancy LCD screen remote.

Yes all I want is the basic remote start operations.  Here in Cochrane, Alberta, 35 kilometers northwest of Calgary, I have left my doors open, unlocked, windows down and tools out in the open for over a month and they're still right there.  So on the scale of installing an alarm system, it is a zero.

I'll look at the link you sent.

As an FYI, I am an American from Indianapolis, Indiana.  I'm a Vietnam Vet and was stationed at Ft. Monmouth, NJ.  Attended IBM and Digital Equipment Corporation, (DEC) and Robotics schools in NYC, Albany, Maynard, Framingham, Boston, and several cities in Connecticut and New Hampshire.  Got to know New England quite well.

Not sure what happened to that link.  Try an EBay search on "compustar".  I didn't see much in EBay Canada so try the US version at EBay.com, too.  There are some Antenna/Remote kits that will only work on the newer 6000 series, so ask first.

Here is a link to a place in NY that will ship to Canada:

I was in the Navy for 6 years about the same time and then worked for an IBM competitor making 3705 FEP equivalents...   Small world.

you should be able to utilize either

a: 1w900fmr (remote model #) and ant-1w900fm msrp for combo $60

or

b: 1wamr (remote model#) and ant-am msrp for combo $55

either of those two combos should give you full functionality (lock/unlock/rem start/trunk)  I have them available if you want them.

I can also get you replacement harness' if you want those as well

Send me a personal email and I will give you my credit card information, or would you prefer a US money order?  But I guess we'd need to settel the above first.

Send me an email. Themusicstore@comcast.net

I can ship to canada, with customs basic shipping with ups is 26 bucks on top of the price of whatever remote kit you want. Be aware that the canadian version of these units allows for MUCH better range, and features, and my US versions may not work as well (they should be fine, just covering my butt). Let me know.

Interesting.  Let me look around as when this comes through customs there is a GST tax charge and and inport fee, which can take a $20 item up to $50. IF you ship it via regular post, it might be far less..
