Im trying to find a 12v(+) "engine running" feed for a battery
isolator relay.

I picked up one of the wires off the alternator, but when
i use that signal the alternator light (on the dash turns on).

Can anyone recommend what wire to use ?

i should have said i would prefer a wire in the engine bay...

THe wire that you used was the stator wire off the alternator.Did you run this wire into a relay ?
