It's in the title, but not the post. The car is a 1996 BMW 328is.

Check my previous posts on the E36, look here under vehicle wiring or check Bulldog Security, they have free to the public wiring charts. Get it started then post any problems on the CAR SECURITY section. If it's just an alarm it shouldn't take you more than an hour, especially if there's an existing factory alarm.

I found the 1997 328i convertible wiring diagram on the12volt's website, but i was not sure if all e36s were the same or not(at least obd2(96) and up)

Effectively yes, 97 coupes and cabs had the trunk trigger up front, also a purple rather than yellow quadplug for the locking. No factory alarm, locks were pin 4 lock and 17 unlock, extend lock pulse for window/roof close and diode from lock to unlock, pos. If factory alarm, WHITE/ black lock and blue/red unlock, this time, neg, again extend lock pulse for total (comfort close).
