I went to install an aftermarket upgrade speaker in my girlfriends 03 Santa Fe only to find out that the door speakers were four-wire component speakers. The wiring diagram on this site says brown and white for LF door. When I used that combo to wire it up I got very low volume and the tweeter part of my three-way speakers that I'm using as upgrades do not work. I've tried to wire them several different ways with varied results. The vehicle has a Monsoon Factory radio. Does this make a difference? I'm beginning to become very frustrated with this issue. Can anyone help?
The monsoon system is a tri-amped system. This means that there are 2 separate amplifiers that feed the door speakers. There is one that supplies signal to the larger driver and another that supplies the tweeters. Do you know if your new speakers are bi-ampable? It has been a long time since I have seen a bi-amp capable coaxial driver. Can you take and post a picture of the back of the speaker, paying close attention to the terminal that you connect wires to.
The subwoofer is the third part of the tri-amped system.
I am having the same problem any help in figuring this out would be appreciated.

This past November I purchased an 05 Santa Fe due a deer charging my drivers side door on a busy highway. Was going to wait till after the new year to replace the head unit, but just couldn't wait. Replaced the double din Monsoon radio with an after market Kenwood kdc-mp345u, not the greatest radio but I like the USB on the front and the Kenwood name.
Now that the holidays are over I went out and bought two pairs of Kenwood KFC-1662s 6-1/2" 3-way 180 watt to replace the factory speakers in the front doors and the back side panels. Replaced the back ones with little to no problems, had to buy self tapping screws to mount them due to them being a little smaller then the original speakers even though the fit guide on Best Buy's website said they would fit.
Didn't really have any issues installing the front speakers on the doors but I noticed the speakers don't sound as good as the back speakers. Not sure if I wired them right due to the original speakers having four wires and the new ones only needing two, I tried a few different ways of wiring them and can't figure it out. They have a loud cuppy bass sound and the rest of the sound is very faint.
Kind of looking for the easy way out here since I am not the most handy guy. Searched the forums and couldn't find an answer so any help would be greatly appreciated. Used the site for replacing the speakers out in my 03 Sonata and replacing the speakers, wood grain dash kit and after market radio in my current 05 Santa Fe.
