I am desperately seeking wiring diagrams/schematics for a 2003 Mitsubishi Diamante OR help disabling my security system.

It is now failing so bad the doors randomly lock on their own and almost always immediately try to re-lock when I unlock them. The alarm/horn blows intermittently when I open the door even when I unlock the door with the key.

I am almost at a point where I am going to disconnect the horn and just let the damn alarm stay on all the time. It doesn't appear that it prevents the car from running or moving.

I can't take it anymore posted_image

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is this dealer fit or OEM, because it may be triggered by the door locks and the door locks are giving you the problem not the alarm, does this happen when you lock the car with, its key, a remote fob or both?

Well, that is a great question which has a complex answer.

This is an OEM system. I have a background in electronics, avionics, computers, and have rebuilt cars as a hobby. So, at this point I am not will to give up and go to the dealership as I feel I am fully qualified to fix this. But without a single drawing, diagram, manual, or even a suggestion I don't know where to start because nothing appears to be labeled or obvious components of the alarm... likely this is on purpose.

It appears that most of the symptoms occur regardless of whether we use the key or remote. Some of the symptoms, I agree may be caused by a problem in the door lock, but I still not convinced. Here are some of the symptoms:

  • "Security" light on dash is on sometimes and other times not. Attempts to disable using the key generally don't work, although sometimes it does.

  • When the doors are unlocked (from inside or out) they immediately re-lock, but only sometimes although often.

  • Occasionally, when the door is unlocked from outside and the door is opened, the alarms sounds. It can only be turned off if the door lock is turned counter clockwise twice. If you don't do this, the alarm (horn) will continue to sound for about 5 minutes even though the car can be driven - and yes... I have driven for 5 minutes with the horn blowing, that's how wized I am with this.

  • The problems appear to reproduce more often when it is cold. By "it" I mean either the weather or the car or both. I guess the car doesn't like to be cold. Good thing I live in Florida.

Thank you for your interest in my challenge. posted_image

Driver's door lock, if an OEM system, probably a micro switch inside the lock mech that either needs contact cleaning or replacement.
All your other problems point to it.
Forget dealers they are there to rip you off on parts and labour, water pump for my Galant, $300, factor, $60.
Use a Mitchells guide or your local library (the one in Fort Lauderdale) is very good).
