Hi All, Im hoping someone can help me out. I just bought a 2012 Subaru Forester 2.5XT Limited. It has a Pioneer AVIC-X9310BT head unit from factory. However it requires me to have the parking brake set to access certain parts such as setting up blue tooth, and other settings. I have been told that the easiest way to by-pass this is to simply ground out the parking brake switch wiring to the head unit by installing a switch. Does anyone have a wiring diagram showing the wire colors?

Craig, is the answer to the question illegal in the US?

It is illegal in most states.  From a Motorcyclist's standpoint, it don't matter where he is, I am still not going to help.

Fair enough, so I won't give out the answer either. I even mounted my phone on a dedicated cradle in my line of sight, it's safer than using my Bluetooth to dial out, in fact I only tend to dial out when I'm in a traffic jam.

I'm not quite sure how adding a switch to simulate having my parking brake on will affect your motorcycle safety. I hate having to set my parking brake so I can input my gas when I fill up so my AVIC can get my fuel economy. Or when I'm sitting in my driveway so I can link my girlfriends cell phone. I don't seem to recall saying I wanted to watch DVDs while driving or anything Of the sort but whatever. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

I thought most of the newer units used the GPS or VSS signal to know whether your were moving or not? "Permanent Parking Brake" is no longer enough to trick the units into thinking your at a stand still.
