2008 toyota 4runner neutral safety switch

Where is the (-) on the Neutral Safety Switch?

First 2 questions I have are what model of remote starter are you using? Is your 4runner manual or automatic?

Omega shows the NSS wire as (+) BLACK / YELLOW in the 43 Pin Conn in the Driver Kick Panel.

You can test that BLACK / YELLOW wire and see if it goes to (-) when the car is in gear. If it does, instead of trying to figure out how to connect it to the (-) NSS wire from your remote starter, you can use the hood pin switch wire. You would diode isolate the hood pin switch and the NSS wire from the 4runner and connect them to the remote starter hood status wire.

Whenever the car is in gear, it would send a negative trigger thru the diode, into the hood pin wire and prevent the remote starter from engaging.

Frank, thanks for the quick reply, its an automatic, i was wondering the same thing its shows as a (+) on Omegas, and the alarm I am using is a Excalibur Al1630edpb, I guess I will test for (-) on the NSS listed from Omega. Would using the door trigger (-) work also? Taking the NSS form the Remote Starter and putting it to the door trigger (-).

What exactly are these for...?

Neutral safety NOT required on an auto.
Ground that wire from you R/S.

BROWN / black to ground
Blue/black to GREEN/ red steering column loom.
BLACK/ red to ground.
GREEN/ violet to green either steering column loom or BECU top plug, pin 8.
To be honest asking these questions means you haven't read the install manual properly.

The only difference is
BROWN / black (Horn Relay N.C.) wouldn't be used.
Violet/Black (Horn Relay N.O.) would go to ground.

NSS wire is always grounded with automatics. Make sure you have the hoodpin switch installed to prevent the remote starter from engaging with the hood open.

howie and frank, thanks again for all the help, this is my first alarm/rs install, I looked over the manual left and right its pretty vague doesn't say much. I have some general knowledge, not much about installing alarms or rs, just mechanical. electrical wasn't my strongest suit. Thanks again..you guys rock....
