could use some clarification on the door trigger wire, when the door is open it has 12 volts and ground when closed. is this a negative or positive door input? is it inputting door open or closed?

Neither.  These are called N.C. ( normally closed ) door triggers.  Ford and Mazda have used them.  DEI makes a module
called the DTIMazda that is designed to take this style input signal and output a more conventional N.O. signal for the
aftermarket Alarm to use.  Here is a link :
