Hey guys, Got a problem with the heater not working with the remote start.

Everything else is fine but I noticed this today that the heater is not working when using the remote start. It works fine otherwise. Also

I noticed that when in remote start the tach is not operational, though the remote start works as it should. On the wiring list below whatever is "not used" is not hooked up. Tried to make it simple. Thanks!

Also, can this be because I spiced into the Black + wires as stated in Tech Tip document #1077 to avoid starter over run? just wondering.

Above wiring is a bit screwed up.
Here are the correct connections.
H3/1 PINK (+) IGNITION 1 INPUT/OUTPUT ( BLACK + ) IGNITION HARNESS

H3/2 RED / WHITE (87) FLEX RELAY +12V INPUT (30A FUSED) CONSTANT 12 V ( WHITE +) IGNITION HARNESS

H3/3 ORANGE (+) ACCESSORY OUTPUT ( GRAY + ) IGNITION HARNESS

H3/4 VIOLET (+) STARTER OUTPUT (CAR SIDE OF THE STARTER KILL) (BLACK/ WHITE+) SPLICE INTO IGN HARN.

H3/5 GREEN (+) STARTER INPUT (KEY SIDE OF THE STARTER KILL) (BLACK/ White+) SPLICE INTO IGN HARN.
Cut the black white, green to key side, violet sto starter side.

H3/6 RED IGNITION 1 +12V INPUT (30A FUSED) CONSTANT 12 V (WHITE+) IGNITION HARNESS

H3/7 PINK/WHITE (30) FLEX RELAY OUTPUT (car side of ign, acc or starter wire) ( Black+) SPLICE INTO IGN HARN.
Ignition loom blue/red

H3/8 PINK/BLACK (87a) FLEX RELAY INPUT (key side of ign, acc or starter wire if needed) (Black +) SPLICE INTO IGN HARN.
Don't use
H3/9 RED / BLACK ACCESSORY/STARTER RELAY +12V INPUT (30A FUSED) CONSTANT 12V (WHITE +) IGNITION HARNESS

H3/10 NC No Connection

The second ignition (Blue/red) isn't being powered up.

Or;
Cut blue/red key side to pink/black.
Car side to pink/white.
But try the above first.
You appear not to have noticed that you have TWO ignition wires and done some completely unnecessary wiring additions to ign. 1.

Thanks alot Howie, I knew something was off about cutting into that Black wire but wasn't sure what I did wrong. Funny thing is a Toyota Alarm tech told me to hook it up the wrong way, lol. Now it works perfect.

Being everything is still apart I would like to add a couple more features and could use some more help from anyone?

Want to hook up the horn along with the siren. Can I just hook up
Green - off the steering column and hook up to
H2/8 BROWN / Black from alarm? Is there any draw backs to using the horn along with the siren?

Also, what about the headlights flashing along with the parking lights? I know I can get the headlights from the steering column mounted light switch RED / Black - but how to hook it up to the alarm and any draw backs doing so?

I have a very high end stereo system in my car and think the more the options from the alarm I can use could be better.

Thanks again
Peter

Disregard that last post. I hooked up the horn but not the headlights as I have xenon headlights and don't want them going on and off every time with the alarm.

Everything works perfect and I have to thank the guys on this forum for that.

I also checked to see how much amp draw the system was using when armed and it's only 30ma and that's with the 508d the control led and the lighted Viper logo.

Thanks again!

Peter

How do you calculate amp draw the system was using when armed ?
