Hi,

Im looking to install (or have installed) a viper 5704 system into my 2007 Subaru Legacy GT.

I had a browse throught the forum but couldnt find any legacy related info. Does anyone have any wiring diagrams or general information for my vehicle?

Im an electrician by trade but depending on the complexity of this system I may have to outsource this install to someone else!

Thanks,

Mick

Which bypass module are you using? Most modules will only do security features or immobilizer (if equipped). So if you want to be able to do both through data you will have to get 2 modules. Otherwise you can either hardwire all of your connections or wrap a key. Also, is it a manual or automatic transmission?

I have no idea which bypass module to use with the viper. I wouldnt know where to get one with the firmware for my car. I would definately want immobiliser and security features. It is an automatic.

Thanks for the info!

Is this an official Oz car or a Grey Import?
If an import you might not be immobilised.
Fortin.
Idatalink.
Xpresskit.
All of the above list your vehicle, separate control (save wiring) and immobiliser by-passes.
Exotica like a dealer scan tool and or a spare key may be required.

Yeah its an 'official' Australian model. They are called liberty here, I just called it Legacy to avoid confusion. Pretty sure it has immobilization transponder chip in key? Why would i need a spare key?

Depending on which of the above brands you will need a "key in a box" to by-pass the immobiliser during R/S. Contact your dealer.

Yes. iDatalink (ADS) has a KLON option that does not require the use of an additional key, but it does require a dealer account to use the KLON feature.

Try wrapping tin foil around the head of the key so that the entire head is hidden, then try starting the car. If it starts and runs then you most likely do not have an immobilizer. If it starts and dies or just doesn't start, you have an immobilizer.

That's why I asked if it was a GREY import Kenny, if Oz home market it will almost definitely have a transponder immobiliser. They followed Europe from the late 90s. Most Oz cars are UK spec with kilos instead of miles on the speedo. If Japanese spec, no rear fogs, if UK there will be rear fogs.
Still worth a try.

Thanks for the help so far guys.

I have concluded that it definately has a factory immobilizer built in.

The info from Bulldog security states that 2 separate bypass modules are necessary. Does this mean for use with 'Bulldog remote start/security equipment' or ALL brands?

Is it even possible to run two separate bypasses with the Viper 5704 unit? posted_image

I'm having trouble finding anyone here in Perth that has the knowledge and equipment to install this alarm!

Currently using alarm as a doorstop posted_image

One module will help with things like locks door bonnet and hood triggers, indicators etc. so you don't have to hardwire them although IMO not difficult with Japanese vehicles.
In other words a convenience module.
The second module which is required will be a by-pass module for the immobiliser such as DEI 556U.
You could probably get away with just the 556U. Not a difficult vehicle to do.
I get the feeling from other posts that Aussies are rushing to fit these products but nobody over there appears to have the technical experience or knowledge to install them. them.

Hey guys,

I've got the 556U bypass module and I'm ready to install. The problem I've got now is the Subaru key wont fit inside the module. Is it ok to remove just the transponder chip from the key?
Im worried that I might damage it or it wont work without the shaft of the key.

If it's just that the key blade is too long, you could just cut off the blade so it fits in the 556UW.  This would destroy the key but help prevent vehicle theft.

It is possible to extract the transponder chip but requires somewhat delicate surgery.

The Blue/White door trigger should be in that same connector.
