Hey All, I have a buddy who has a 2003 Chevy Express Cargo van, and he is trying to install an aftermarket radio. I will be doing this soon to my '06 express cargo too.
Anyway, he stopped at BB to get a wiring harness and it was well over $100 for the harness. I told him that is crazy, it shouldn't cost more than about $15. Anyway, I can not find a harness for our vehicles, and is a high dollar one required for these vans? Even though we have the cheap cargo style without onstar and all that stuff?
Thanks
Brew

Metra 70-2003 It will cost you around 20 dollars. You will have to find a switched power source and run a wire to that source. The wire and a fuse tap comes with the harness. Either to the fusebox and tag the wiper fuse. Or you can catch a switched wire at the A/C control.

They do not list it for the 03, because the 03 needs the digital harness. I am 100% certain that the 70-2003 is the correct (non digital) harness for that vehicle. The 02 calls for that harness because it does not require the digital harness.
The LC-GMRC-01 is a 70 dollar digital harness. The 70-2003 is the 20 dollar harness if you choose not to get the correct one.

Sorry, looks like I am the idiot, because I am still a little confused.
It sounds like you are saying the LC-GMRC-01 is the correct one, but more expensive. The 70-2003 will work, and is cheaper, but you will need to splice in to a switched power source? The non-digital one works, and you would just lose the chime?
Would this hold true for my '06?
Thanks,
Brew

You lose 2 things if you use the 2003, You also lose the retained accessory power. That is the feature that allows the radio to stay on till you open the door. Using the 2003, the radio will turn off when you turn the key off. Same for the 06

Ok, that makes sense. I did find the LC-GMRC-01 at Amazon for about $35 so it would probably worth just spending the money to get it "right".
Thanks for helping me out.
