I am getting ready to instal an Avital 5303 alarm and remote start in my base model 2009 Chevy Aveo 5 LT. I know the car does not have a chipped key because I had a replacement made at the dealer for only $10. I called the parts department and gave them my vin number and they said the car does not have passkey. I am having trouble finding a wire diagram for installing remote start without a bypass for this car. My biggest concern is how to deal with the starter wire. I have install many alarm in my past but they all had starter wires and passkey or chipped keys. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could get an iDatalink ADS AL-CA bypass module flashed with the ADS AL(DL) GM6 firmware and omit the one
harness that controls the ADS RNG-Aveo transponder ring. The Type 1 install diagram has most of the necessary
connections and the bypass module will handle the locks, Factory alarm ( if present ), supply the Brake and Tach
signals and handle the Data/MUX start control via Data. Here is a link to the install guide :

You would still have to connect the Avital to the Parking Lights, Door Status, Trunk Status and Hood Status. You
won't need the H3/1, H3/2 and H3/7 wires. Starter Kill, if desired, could be controlled by H1/12 ORANGE (-) 500mA
GROUND WHEN ARMED OUTPUT and a SPDT relay.

Thank you very much for you response.

Do you know where i can purchase one of these that is programed with the correct firmware? I know I can program it myself with the extra cable but I would rather not purchase the cable to program just 1 module.

Do you know if the DEI pkuaveo functions the same? It does not require any programing, but does it work with the tach and brake pedal? I guess its not a big deal to hook up to additional wires.

Do I hook up the starter wires from the satellite relay pack to anything (the green and purple wires) or are all the starting signals coming from the interface module. Thanks again.

Can't help you with the PKUAveo. Never used one and the xPressKit WEB site is down right now.

If you use the ADS AL-CA bypass module, the 5303 thick Violet Starter (+) wire will be connected to the ADS AL-CA
BLACK/ White wire. That's all, there is no Starter wire at the Aveo's ignition switch.

I will PM you some module sources.

Do you know if any of the idatalinks can be used without programming with a computer? Maybe the solo series?

Do you have a good wire diagram for this car? I have found a few diagrams on the web but there are some variations.

Thanks again for your help.

While the iDatalink Solo series come pre-loaded with firmware, they do not have a Solo module with the GM6 firmware you
need. There are online sellers that will flash the requested firmware prior to shipment, sometimes for free.   Typical price,
with shipping, is around $60 for an ADS AL-CA.

For vehicle wiring, here are some sources :
Here is a link to Bulldog Security : https://www.bulldogsecurity.com/bdnew/vehiclewiringdiagrams.asp
Here is a link to Ready Remote : https://www.readyremote.com/main.asp
Here is a link to AudioVox : https://techservices.audiovox.com/AccessRequest.aspx    Sign-up & info is free.

As you noticed, there will be differences. Unfortunately, it will be up to you, the installer, to locate / test / verify each wire
prior to making your connections.   While it is completely different, I posted a 2005 Aveo Pictorial and found that vehicle
very basic and straight forward. Even the most experienced installers will test and verify wires before making the solder
connections. Mistakes can be costly and bad word-of-mouth advertising even more expensive.

Best bet is to go by the iDatalink diagram, make up a wire connection chart that includes the 5303, the ADS AL-CA and the
2009 Aveo ( from the wire guide sources ). Post that for input from the 12 Volt Forum members.

Don't even need pkuaveo. Just did one 1300 ohm resistor across the data lines at ignition switch via a relay will handle the cranking. I can post more info if need be. Was an extremely simple install
