Newbie here first of all. I finished installing my Viper 4204 Keyless-Entry/Remote-Start and I don't have the anti-grind feature working. It is Menu 3 Item 13, but I'm not sure if that means there is an internal relay or you have to purchase a SPDT relay and wire it up. I have a 1998 Toyota 4Runner.

The Remote Start Harness specifies this wiring scheme:
Pink-> (+) Ignition 1 Input/Output
RED / Wht-> (+) 12VDC Constant Input for Ignition 2 and flex relays
Orange -> Accessory Output
Violet-> Starter Output
Red-> (+) 12VDC Constant Input for ignition 1 relay
Pink/Wht -> (+) Ignition 2/ Flex Relay Output
Pink/Black -> (+) Flex Relay Input 87a key side (if required) of FLEX RELAY
RED / Black-> (+) 12VDC constant input for Acc ans starter relays

Wiring Option #1
Right now I'm wired up like this:
Pink -> Ignition 1
RED / Wht -> +12VDC
Red -> +12VDC
Violet ->Starter Output
Pink/Wht -> Ignition 2
Pink/Blk -> Not used
RED / Blk-> +12VDC

Wiring Option #2
Do I have to put the Pink wire to Ignition2 like below?:
Pink -> Ignition 2
RED / Wht -> +12VDC
Red -> +12VDC
Pink/Wht -> Ignition 1 (Car Side)
Pink/Blk -> Ignition 2 (Key Side)

I have a Direct SPDT relay that I bought and was thinking I could wire it up like below, but I'm confused whether this Viper 4204 already has a relay built in for anti-grind:

Wiring Option #3
Cut Ignition1
30-> Pink/Wht and car side of Ignition 1
85-> Ground
86-> RED / White
87-> RED / White
87A-> Pink/Blk and key side of ignition 1

FYI, the remote start is currently working wired up like Option #1, but I want the anti-grind functioning.

Standard wiring ( no Anti-Grind )  Think this is what you have now - Option 1.
H3/1 PINK (+) IGNITION 1 INPUT/OUTPUT    BLACK / YELLOW (+)  @ IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS  
H3/2 RED / WHITE +12V FUSED (30A)   WHITE (+)  @ IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS 
H3/3 ORANGE (+) ACCESSORY OUTPUT     BLUE/RED (+)  @ IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS 
H3/4 VIOLET (+) STARTER OUTPUT   GREEN/ BLACK (+) or BLACK (+)  @ IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS 
H3/5 RED +12V FUSED (30A)   WHITE (+)  @ IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS 
H3/6 PINK/WHITE IGNITION 2   BLACK / YELLOW (+) or BLACK/ RED (+)  @ IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS 
H3/7 PINK/BLACK FLEX RELAY INPUT 87a Not Used
H3/8 RED / BLACK +12V FUSED (30A) WHITE/ RED (+)  @ IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS

You need the Flex Relay for Ignition2.   Cutting an "Ignition" type wire is never a good idea.

First, let me state that I am not a Viper expert.  The install guide seems slightly misleading about Menu 3, Item 13.
The description is the same in the 5704 guide but the 5704 has built in Starter Kill.  Basically, how can the internal
Starter Output relay prevent the key from cranking the engine while it is running ( if you don't interrupt the vehicles
starter wire )?  For Anti-Grind, you will cut the vehicle Starter wire ( in an accessible place ) and use the relay you
purchased wired as below :
Relay Pin 85 to 4204 H1/6 ORANGE 500 mA GROUND WHEN ARMED OUTPUT
Relay Pin 87a to cut GREEN/ BLACK (+) or BLACK (+)  @ IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS  - Key switch side
Relay Pin 87 not used
Relay Pin 86 to 4204 H3/1 PINK (+) IGNITION 1 INPUT/OUTPUT ( H3/1 still goes to 4Runner BLACK / YELLOW, too )
Relay Pin 30 to cut GREEN/ BLACK (+) or BLACK (+)  @ IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS  - vehicle side

H3/4 Violet still goes to GREEN/ BLACK (+) or BLACK (+)  @ IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS, but connects with the
Relay's Pin 30 wire to the vehicle side of the cut Starter wire.

Here is a link to a basic Starter Kill circuit : https://www.the12volt.com/relays/page2.asp   The top diagram is
similar to the above wiring.  The main difference is the addition of the 4204's H3/4 Starter Output to the circuit.
Also, adding the 1N4007 quenching diode, as shown, is a good idea.

This will give you Anti-Grind plus will not allow the key to crank the starter motor while the 4204 is Locked ( Starter Kill ).

If you don't want Starter Kill when the Viper is locked, use the H2/9 Dark Blue (-) Status Output wire on
Pin 85 of the relay instead of the H1/6 GWA signal.  This will only do the Anti-Grind function.

All these wire connections should be well soldered and properly insulated.

Thanks, that makes way more sense then what I had came up with. I'll implement this in the afternoon and report back. I'm glad there are forums like this to help guys like me out. The Directechs.com website wasn't helpful at all. A lot of the links don't work and I couldn't find a manual on the 4204 system. I'm surprised they don't have wiring diagrams and a SPDT relay in the Viper box. I guess they just assume everyone who purchases/installs their remote start system has a high level of understanding, and would know to buy a SPDT relay and know how to wire it up.

Anyways, this finally make sense to me and I was getting very frustrated with the lack of information I could find online, so I greatly appreciate it.

I wired to the H2/9 Dark Blue (-) Status Output wire on Pin 85 and everything works great. I also added the tach wire instead of using the virtual tach. I would switch between 1 and 1.2 seconds of crank time on the virtual tach and sometimes it wouldn't start and sometimes it would over crank. It seems to crank a lot better now. So, I'd highly recommend wiring the tach cable to others.
