For now I need to be able to have the onboard wifi to stay on for a period of time after key off.

Does the radio stay powered up until you open the drivers door? Does the wi fi do the same? If so we may be able to disconnect the door trigger wire. If you di not open the door dies the radio turn off after 10 minutes?

Test for the WiFi power feed, if its IGN or ACC run a fused constant instead.
I have a mobile WiFi in my car, wired permanently doesn't draw enough juice to cause any problems.
