Does anyone know which wire in the fuse box is the negative rear defrost? Ive read it is i/p-c 41 pin (pin 36) black/white wire. Im checking continuity to ground on all the wires while turning the defrost on and can not find it.

I think idatawire has the wrong info for the 2014-2019 rear defrost wire.

Not the black wire, that's just power for the indicator light at the switch.

The negative switched wire you want is either pink or white (depending if you have manual or automatic controls) between the rear defrost switch and the BCM. Look at the area in the red circle.

So no latched (-) at the smart junctions fuse panel under the steering wheel? This compustar unit provides -250ma signal and Ive read "a" rear defrost/defog relay exists inside of that smart junction panel. completing ground.

You could also check for the white wire between the E/R Junction Box and the Smart Junction Box.

thats pretty awesome, do you have a larger overall view of this system?

Ive found a wire in I/P-C (white) that completes ground when I trigger the defog/defrost button, but I want to be extra cautious before hooking this wire up. Everything else in the system is working as intended and this is the last wire.

Im leaning towards not even hooking it up atm.

Here is what idatawire says for rear defrost for 2017 kia soul, but I certainly dont see a white 41 pin plug at I/P-C (C is a black connector and 36ish pins)

Once this jack daniels wears off and I have some light here, Ill check I/P-E for some sort of white (-) signal wire

Found it! 2017-2019 2nd gen defrost trigger wire (not sure if 2nd gen 2014-2016 are the same) is in the smart junction box (fuse box lower left of steering wheel)

I/P-E connector, pin 16, White wire

When testing voltage it WILL read 12+ volts with car running and defrost OFF because the multimeter is reading the positive wire that is connected to one side of the relay coil waiting to be triggered with a ground signal.

With defrost ON it will register a very tiny amount, around 0.22 volts

Excuse my dirty car, it needs a good detail (we use it as our second/emergency car)

Also I temporarily took the locking clip off the blue I/P-E connector for easier testing

THANK YOU! lee.lopez for providing me with that diagram. Made all the difference and saved me from testing MANY wires lord knows how many times each.
