I am installing an amp on my 02 cougar.  I have opted to leave in the stock head unit, becuase it is a six cd changer, and has a fairly good sound for being a stock system.  I however have not been able to find a wiring diagram for the head unit... I believe it is the premium sound system.  If anyone could give me a clue as to which wires are which.  I believe the blue one is the remote turn on because that is what is seems to be on most other ford/mercury products.  However any help would be greatly appreciated as to which one is the remote turn on, and which are the left, right +/- cables.  Thank you for your help.

I was looking into the same thing myself cause I wanted to put the Cougar's radio into a Nissan (customer's request) anywho, I found this:
