Hey guys, I'm going to be putting my old system into my friend's 97 Jetta. I bought new stuff and sold him my old stereo.  I was planning on installing my Kenwood head unit, as well as a 12" Cobalt Orion Sub, bandpass box, and Cobalt 150.2 amp.  Looking at the head unit on the volkswagon, I discovered it said "Volkswagon Premium Audio."  This scared me a little bit because I know that Premium audio usually means "pain in the butt to hook up a new deck and/or spakers," because of internal amplifiers and other obstacles.  I have done many installs, but I don't have much experience with the Premium systems.  Any advice on installing the head unit and amp, or should it be just like installing in any other "non-premium audio" vehicle?

the premium audio in VW's isnt anything special, just get a VW harness and it'll be a breeze. You have to be carefull for the monsoon systems in VWs, but the premuim isnt anything special.
