I recently installed a set of Running Boards w/ lights. I would like to have the lights on the Boards illuminate in conjunction with the dome lights. I also have the factory keyless entry . I need to know which wire I should connect to and where I should look. I want the lights on the boards to dim and illuminate when opening the doors or using the keyless entry.  Would the dome light wiring be located at the drivers door rocker panel ? Can anyone help?

Thanks, Dan Rose

The LF door trigger is tan, and the LR door is tan/orange. These wires are in the driver kick panel. The RF door trigger is tan/red, and the RR door is tan / YELLOW. These wires are in the passenger kick panel. Use all wires and diode isolate each. The dome light does not have it's own trigger wire rather you have to use all 4 door trigger wires to activate the dome light.

For your particular install, I might recommend removing the drivers A-pillar and testing the wires one for constant and one for trigger. It might be easier to first test behind the domelight and follow wires down. I would recommend the use of a relay for the trigger wire as a "boost" per say and upgrading the domelight fuse by an additional 5 amps or whatever your running board lights amp ratings is.

Thanks for yor help. I isolated the wires in the Drivers side pillar. The brown wire is the trigger and the RED / yellow is the contant. The  lights on the running boards illuminate and dim with the dome lights perfectly!
