I'm wiring a JBL1200.1 amp in a 2002 Ford Taurus Se and having trouble finding a hole in the firewall for the power wire. If someone with experience could point me in the right direction that would help tremendously. (I know drilling is an option, but I'd really like to avoid it).

Thanks

I have a 2003 taurus ses and found that I had no choice but to drill.

Oh yeah
there are some spot that you could push the wire through but they are hard to get to. or you could push it through the firewall rubber around the steering column using a hanger to pull it through

The Taurus usually sucks to go through the firewall. There is usually a couple of empty grommets but even those are a pain to get to. Look about dead center of the firewall very low down there is usually an empty grommet there you can go through. It would be real easy to access from underneath if you put the car on stands..Look from the engine bay side to see if the grommet is there. Once you see it go inside and try to find it you'll need to pull the carpet and insulation back a bit. That grommet usually pops out very easily and is a pain to put back in..If not there is usually another empty grommet higher up on the drivers side but you won't have much luck getting through it without removing the module on the inside of the firewall. (Don't remember if it's a module there or the fusebox but there is something covering it.) As mentioned drilling is always an option too just be very careful where you drill! Good luck,

Mike

I just installed an amp power cable in my 2000 Taurus. It took me awhile to trace the factory wires through the firewall but I did do it with no drilling or cutting new holes in grommets. First you have to jack the vehicle up and remove the driver's front tire. You will then need to remove the plastic inner wheel well. If you look to the top of the wheel well you will see the plastic tunnel going from the firewall up to the fender wall next to the driver's headlight. You can get about anything through the firewall using this method. I put a 4 gauge cable through there without ripping the grommet. Under the dash you will need to remove the bottom two nuts holding the fusebox/computer in and pull down hard to unclip the top of the unit. I also unbolted and removed the fusebox plugs so I could swing the unit out of my way. If you use this method, disconnect the battery before removing and reinstalling the fusebox plugs or the factory alarm will go off on reconnection (found that out the hard way at 2am.) I would recommend leaving the computer harness on the bottom of the unit plugged in as I did. This is a long and involved process but it can be done. Good luck!
