Quick note...

Pins 12-15, top & bottom, I can safely assume are the speakers.  Pin 16 (Black) I know to be ground/common.  Top pin 1, orange, I know to be constant 12v.  My questions are regarding pins 2-5 on the top, and pin 1  on the bottom.  The use of multiple dark green, as well as multiple yellow, and the lack of the brown and pink are whats confusing me.  Can I assume that they grey is correctly colored as the illumination, and how do I check this prior to hooking up my new stereo and frying something?  Same goes for the other unknown colors/wires?  IE, how do you check the antenna trigger wire? Or dimmer?  Thanks again for any help...

Art couldnt you just buy a wiring harness for this vehicle and eliminate the guess work? I would think for illumination you could measure the voltage and then watching the meter turn the headlights on and see if there is a change. Dimmer wire should change voltage while rotating the dimmer switch. Lack of brown and pink may just be that you dont have power antenna and dimmer. If you do have these features then I would use my meter and start checking for wires that change state with different functions. My main advice would be to buy a wiring harness. Most of them arent very expensive.

posted_image  Naaaa!!!  That would be to easy!  lol   I always do things the hard way.  But even with a harness, would the harness tell me which wires were which?  Like I said, I'm wiring in a custom built 'stereo' system (more of a computer with stereo abilities), so theres no conventional plug to plug into.

Ya every harness I ever got the wire colors on the harness side matched whats commonly used on aftermarket radios. For example the switched power would then be red regardless if the factory were light blue, green or whatever.  They usually come with a sheet to telling you what they are. Scosche is one such manufacturer of these harnesses.

I think yours is the GM03
