i just got a new stereo for my 2002 malibu. Im relocating the factory head to my trunk and installing the aftermarket in its place. The problem is i do not know where to put the 12v switched plug. The harness does not have it included. Is there anybody there that can help me out? Thanks alot.

i run a new wire to the fuse box. i tap into the windshield wiper fuse. that way if it blow you have no problems. just make sure you tap into the cold side so the stereo still has a fuse in the switched power line.

if anyone else does it different. let me know. i like to hear different ideas.

thanks guys for y9our suggestions. I tried to do both but i dodnt feel comfortable doing either. So i took it down to the local shop where the guy did it for me for 25 bucks. I checked it out after word and the shop used a fuse that was there. I dont remeber seeing that but its there now and my stereo works just fine. I have a new problem now. I keep getting feedback on my left speaker when i hook up the factory head so i can keep my chimes. At the moment i dont have the factory hooked up so i dont get the chimes, but i do have the aftermarket hooked up so i got sound, but no chimes. Not that big of a deal but thats the only reason why i wanted to relocate the factory.

i think it might be because the volume is turned up on your factory stereo. i did one a while ago and it was having a little feedback, so i turned the volume right down on the factory unit and it cleared it up. hope this helps you...
