Jeff,
Seems like you installed the CS423 on a 2000 Blazer before. I also went to your web site and you also have it for sale. Anyways, I do a have few more questions if you have the time.
1. The brake wires seems very difficult to get to. Especially to strip. I only have a few inches of wire that I can see much less get both hands in. How would you recommend stripping these? I was thining about using a cigarette to melt the sleeves off. I am very worried about screwing things up.
2. Where is the best place to run the tach wire through?
3. Where is the best place to mount a siren? I bought a separate siren for a quiet chirp instead of using the OEM horn. 12voltshop.com told me I need to buy a relay for it to work. I assumed the connection would be the same.
THANKS JEFF
1. If you can't reach the wires, what I've done in the past is use my soldering iron to melt a portion of the insulation off the wire to show the wire underneath it. I wouldn't use a lighter as the flames may melt something else but a soldering iron is more controlled than an open flame
2. I would try to run the wire through the steering wheel boot or a free firwall plug that has nothing there.
3. I would mount the siren facing down by the firwall ( if you have room ) . Try to find the flattest place you can and use shallow srews to mount the siren ( 1/2 " sheet metal is what I use ). Attach the + to the battery post and the - to the BLUE wire of the CS423. The reason why they told you that you may need a relay is the fact the the CD423's horn output is only 500ma and this may not be enough to fully engage the siren that you bought. If you need to place a relay , wire it up like this:
- 87 - GROUND
- 85 - BLUE wire forn CS423
- 30 - Negative side of Siren
- 86 - 12 Volts +
- 87a - NOT USED
Hope this helps and sorry for the delay, I didn't see this post.
