I am trying to install a remote start unit on a 2001 diesel Ford Excursion that is looking for a 12V+ signal to know the engine has started. The alarm install guide says use the Oil Light. However I think this is an LED and i am not sure even hoe to acess it.
Anyone have suggestions or an alternative means of producing 12V+ once the engine starts?
Thanks

No Diode Isolation is needed. All DesignTech remote starters except the 2xx22 have an ignition 3 as a WHITE/ black in the control harness. |
ok what that is pretty much should be saying is that is needs to be hooked up to the tach of the truck this tells the rs to stop cranking. this is a white pink wire found at intrument pannel and usually on fords you can find it in the wire harness located about where the clutch on a manual truck would come in the firewall.
also this is a diesel so you need to either connect to the glow plug or use a timer relay on the wait to start wire which most good rs systems have. or the rs will try to crank even if the trucks glow light is not on which i know its there for a reason so maybe it causes damage to the engine or maybe its to allow fuel to get to the right place but for whatever owning a diesel means you have to wait for that light, before start.

mecp certification is not always needed. I have it and it has not helped me out at all. my experience out shines it.
