I'm not entirely sure if I should post this here or in Car Audio, but here goes.
My mother purchased a 1997 Chrysler Sebring JX back in November from an auction, and the radio did not work. She decided that she could live with this for a while, but yesterday my parents finally cracked down and purchased a cd player for it, asking if I would install it.
Upon inspection, it was obvious that the previous owner had at one time a non-stock system installed. The rear speakers had been removed, and the "stock" stereo installed did not fit. After taking off the faceplate and removing the stereo, to my horror I discovered that when the stereo was removed, they simply cut the wires completely off, instead of leaving some form of harness attached, and had replaced their stereo with another Chrysler stock.
It wasn't too much of a problem, however, to locate this site and find the
information that I required. How simple.
Except, though, when I went back to work on the radio, hardly any of these colors matched. Checking with someone else to insure that I had not gone color blind, it seemed that they were just off. Instead of the colors that the link suggested, I was greeted by :
Blue
Blue/Red
Blue/White
Blue/Brown
Orange (with a Brown stripe on one side)
Pink/White
ORANGE / Blue
Violet
Black
Yellow/Brown
Green
ORANGE / Brown
RED / White
and RED / Brown
Okay, fair enough. I decided I would check the speakers to see what wires they were attached to, and decided to work from there.
Rear left: Blue/Brown, Yellow/Brown
Rear right: Blue/Orange, Blue/White
That takes care of two sets.
Front left: GREEN/ Blue, LightGREEN/ Green
Front right: Blue/Purple, Blue/Green
And two more sets to figure out.
Thus my problem. I decided to post here to see if anyone had any thoughts of what I should try next, and maybe I can get this figured out.

Just a hardwire. We get these in all the time when customers are too cheap,or not knowledgable to buy a wiring harnes.. First find ground coming out of that harness. Then after you find that find 12V, and ignition. Then you can just use a tone generator to find all the speaker wires. You probably won't use all the wires on that harness. Just cap those off that you don't use. Use a DMM to find all power, and ground wire(s)

Thank you for the reply. What I eventually wound up doing is researching a bit more till I discovered the site www.installdr.com , which had the set of wiring codes I needed. Aside from having to replace a 10A fuse for the radio memory, everything went without a hitch.
