thanks so much for the prompt response!

unfortunately, not a match (just measured acrosos with a VOM)

my stock radio has 2 rear connectors, one 16 pin and one 8 pin with the power outs, etc on the 8 pin. that connector was labeled, thank god!

Thanks again, jeff, but again no dice.

i nailed it though - stopped by a dealer and they gave me a website - www.alldata.com

cost 25 bucks but they had the goods.

weird weird weird stuff though - speakers read approx 50k ohms across the wires from hot to ground! that makes NO sense to me. naturally the stock wires suck but that bad? i doubt it - they have to be made of wood to get a reading like that. also they didn't respond to a 9 volt battery across the wires!??!!

i totally build and troubleshoot audio for a living, but not autosound specifically. in my world i would have read 3.2 ohms dc and a 9 volt would have made 'em jump outta the baskets.

for a minute i thought there was a relay or something i didn't know about but it wasn't pictured in the wiring diagram.

strange!

You probably have an amplifier inline of the speakers and the deck. That's why the resistance is so high and that's why the 9 volts battery test didn't work. The amp is located in the rear passenger side compartment in the trunk.

sunuvagun.

you are correctamundo - "high quality" factory sound specifies an outboard amp. i failed to understand this creepy auto diagram...thought it was onboard. these are A LOT more convoluted than electronics schematics - or maybe i just ain't up to speed.

must take a mighty high input level cause it sounds pretty passable seeing 27 watts from the blau head unit! feed wires aren't shielded either, that's not consistent with line level audio in an EMF unfriendy environment like a car.

gotta get in there and perform bypass surgery.

glad i ran into you. if you need the pinouts or layouts for this particular system just say so.

Would you email me the pinouts and the layouts of the system ? I like to keep this information handy for other memebers if it ever arises that someone would need this information or even myself posted_image. Thanks and please forward this to : velocity@valleycable.com Thank you and if you need anything else... just give me a shout.
