Okay It goes like this. Girl tried to install a stereo in her 2000 Saturn SL herself, and messed it all up. She clipped her stereo harness, and then threw it away, with the stock stereo. She's got a Dual brand stereo now. I did this.

2000 Saturn SL

                          Car                 Stereo
Left Front-.....Light Gray......White.BLK
Left Front+.....Tan.............White
Right Front-....Light Green.....Gray.BLK
Right Front+....Green...........Gray
Left Rear-......Yellow..........Green.BLK
Left Rear+......Brown...........Green
Right Rear-.....Light Blue......Purple.BLK
Right Rear+.....Blue............Purple

Ground..........Black...........Black
Dimmer..........Gray............Orange
Power Antenna...Pink............Blue
+12 Ignition....Yellow..........Red
+12 Battery.....Orange..........Yellow

I can't get the driver side door to put out any sound, and the rear driver door only puts out this high static sound. I've checked connections, and re-soldered all of the wires I hooked up. I can't figure it out. On top of all this, I have three extra wires, which I don't know what to do with.

Orange(Thicker Orange wire)
Copper
Brown

I've substituted the black car ground with the copper cable, and it works the same. Please help me. I haven't had stero trouble like this ever. I don't want to do it, but I'm moments away from re-wiring the entire stereo system. Thanks.

Make sure the Gray, Yellow & Brown are the correct wires for Radio
Be sure U haven't crossed them
Gray = Left Front Speaker
Gray = Dial Lites
Brown = Left Rear Speaker
Brown = Panel Lites
Yellow = Left rear Speaker
Yellow = Ignition
Sometimes these wires are hooked up without checking for voltage

Allright, Thanks. But what about the other orange wire? Should I hook up the dimmer and dial wires to constant, or switched power? The speaker connectors in the door, for the 6 1/2" speakers are f**ked up. I tried to run new wires to them, but the connectors don't work, so I had to bypass them into the actuall coil/speaker copper wires. I seriously hate this car, but like the girl. It's a really weird speaker setup. There is a 6 1/2" and a 1" in each door, but the 6 1/2"s in the front were wired to the rear speakers. So the only front sound that was coming out was from the tweeters. It really pissed me off. So I'm gonna redo all the speaker wires, and get the thing right. Saturn has a hell of a complaint coming to them.
