anybody else use the DB-PASS-23?  I was told by my distributor that it replaced the PL2004...the unit comes with a sheet that lists a very few/rare GMs that it is compatible with...but is it truly a "GM Universal" bypass module?

Actually, it replaced the DB-PLDATA & the DB-PKG4. It basically combined the two. The sheet lists about 20 specific vehicles (mostly PK3 vehicles) but it also has a listing for "all gm passlock II equipped vehicles". It is a very capable and reliable piece. Easy to install too, much easier than a PL-2004 or a PASS-2. It's not completely universal as it won't cover older VATS or Passlock I vehicles. Mostly because those vehicles aren't OBDII compatible. Hope this helps.

I have run into a problem with the dbpass23 with the 04 yukon/escalade. also using omega door lock interface dlm3 by omega. intermittently throws
"stability systems disabled" message and trac off light during remote start. seems to be a data miscommunication, switched to plxr anti theft bypass and works good. had this problem?

The DB-PASS-23 should have worked fine in those vehicles. We've done a couple of '04 full size SUV's (yukon & tahoe) without any issues. We also use the DB-DLM-3 in conjunction but I have not experienced the problems you mentioned. Did you call Omega about the problem? Recently, we have switched to the DB-GMDLBP since it combines both functions together and makes the install easier. They seem to work well also. The PLXR is also a good kit.
