Looking for the location of the PCM for a 2004 Ford Ranger FX4. Most 2000-2003 ranger wiring docs say its located under the hood on the passenger side firewall. I don't see it. Did the PCM location change for in 2004?

I'm assuming you are looking for your tach. The PCM is on the passenger side firewall, under the hood. For tach, can also go to the ignition coil pack or any fuel injector and use the wire that is NOT red.

Yes. Your assumption is correct. I am looking for a good tach signal for my R/S install. Since the tan/white tach wire under the dash always seems to measure under a volt, I was hoping to test the tan / YELLOW wire at PCM pin 48 before I cut into the coil (tan/white) or injector (not red) wiring. I have found a tan / YELLOW wire located at drives kick panel wiring harness which measures 5-6 volts at engine run time but does not fluctuate much as RPMs increase. My hope was to find the PCM which seems not to be found under hood passenger side firewall to test if this is the same wire.
