Hello, this is my first post and I am in a panic! Here are the details:

2001 Nissan Sentra SE 2.0

This car came with a factory alarm and keyless entry system

It has the Astrostart Model 1100 installed in it and all the features work perfectly except for 1. The car will not start with a key. It will only start using the remote start button on the 6 button remote.

The local Astrostart dealers won't look at it because they didn't install it. They told me to take it back to the dealer. The dealer will only offer to remove it because they know nothing about the system and didn't install it. I bought the car used from them 1 week ago and they claim they didn't know there was a problem with it. I would hate for them to remove this excellent unit if it is something minor. Please help. My appointment with the dealer to remove it is tomorrow!

Have you got a valid programmed key? The vehicle has a transponder security

I would make sure that the key is good. Only the dealer can program a new key

The LAST thing I would do is take out the astro 1100, it IS a great unit

I would ask the astro dealer you went to for MORE help. Also, ask the dealer if you can contact the previous owner

The car came with 3 keys. 2 of them are black with a little blue rectangular chip in them. The other is brown (it is a valet key) and it also has a little blue chip in it.   Are any of these the transponder key?

I already decided not to have the Astrostart system removed. It is so darn nice.

The salesman started the car with the key. I think he pushed the red button on the remote 3 times in a row and the key worked. He doesn't remember what he did.

The dealer called and told me they figured it out. I need to press the red stop button on my remote for 3 seconds which bypasses the system and allows the key to be used to start the car.

There isn't a single post anywhere from anybody with a similar issue. Does anybody here have to do anything that is similar to that?
