I have a 1986 Pontiac firebird, I took out the stock car stereo, btw the stock stereo was able to turn on without the car being on. I hooked up the new stereo, but it wont turn on, the only thing that will work is the CD eject, and time display, I am not sure but I think it has something to do with the wire that tells it the car is on or something like that, any info would help so let me know, my E-Mail is BoarderMike23@aol.com Please put something like Firebird stero help or something like that in the subject line if you are oing to e-mail me or else it might get deleted. Thanks much. ------------- Mike Larsen

Make sure that htese two connections are made and also on the proper connection to the new CD player: Constant 12V+ | Orange | Switched 12V+ | Yellow |

Should it be one, or the other, or both hooked up? and where should each be hooked to, because I tried hooking each up seperatley to the power wire to the stereo. I also tried hooking both together to the stereo, Thanks for youre help. Mike ------------- Mike Larsen

Well I am not sure, but I looked on the back od the Stereo, (JVC KD-S580) and it only shows 4 other wires than the speaker wires: Power, Ground, Remote, and accesory, but there is an extra Orange wire that comes out with the others that is not shown on the diagram, it is orange, I tried hooking that one up also with no luck,

Orange is for an illumination, not used on most players now a days. ------------- Jeff
