posted_imageI just purchased a 2001 dodge grand caravan.  I installed a remote start/alarm combo by Delta.  The vehicle starts just fine with some special wiring.  however,  the blower doesn't work under remote start.  The ignition wires aren't the usual size.  They are smal  18ga. wires that must activate relays or something.  Also, it has a single wire lock system.   I know the colour, PURPLE / green, but there are about 8 wires of this same colour and none of them seem to do anything related to the locks.  Any info would be appreciated.

The PURPLE?GREEN wire is located at the BCM and it is in the drivers kick panel near the parking brake. It has 5 plugs in it, one 6 pin plug and four 34 pin plugs.  Lock is negative trigger thru a 5.3K ohm resistor. Unlock is negative trigger thru a 2.0K ohm resistor. MUST use relays.

  • The door lock switch appears to have a threshold, if the Violet/Green sees resistance near 2200 ohm it seems to be confused as to whether it should lock or unlock. If you stay below 2000 ohm it will always unlock. If you stay above 2300 ohm it will always lock. The values used here are taken from the EVSII Mopar factory alarm system kit used for this vehicle.

  • NEVER connect the coil of a relay to the PINK/WHITE ignition wire at the column otherwise the heater or other accessories will not turn on when you do a key take-over after remote starting the vehicle

  • The starter wire and the ignition wiers seem to not turn over the HEATER/AC. Make sure that there is a relay with a 180 ohm resistor in it and also that you have all three ignitions hooked up on the Caravan.

Thaks for the response Jeff.  I see the BCM module at the fire wall and have determined which which plug it is.  However, this plug has about five PURPLE / green wires in it.  I have used the 180 ohm resistor to power up the second negative ignition wire along with one positive igniton wire which I don't beleive needs any resistor.  I do encounter the problem of not having the blower working when I engage the key until I disengage the remote by pressing the brake.  I have the pink/white ignition wire hook to the starter's ign. #1 wire and I have the PURPLE / brown wire hooked to ign. #2 wire with the 180 ohm resistor via a relay. Am I missing a ign. wire.  There are two other small wires bundled with these, but I don't get any polarity change when starting the vehicle. Any ideas?     Thanks alot . posted_image

The Caravan has a second STARTER wire not a second ignition wire that needs to see (-) through a 180 ohm resistor.

Thanks Jeff.  Does this relay get activated by a ign, acc, or start wire.  I'm thinking ign. because soon as I press the brake the blower starts going.  Checked your web site out: Velocity Motors.  Nice stuff.

Sorry Jeff made a mistake.  Think the relay should be activated by start wire not ign.posted_image

Pin 85 should be the 1st STARTER wire.
