I have a 2000 excursion powerstroke and was wondering if it is possible to use a DEI Valet 552t to arm and disarm the factory system. The remote start is working properly with out a bypass module. Also, do I have to use a 5-wire to hook up the door locks or can I use the factory wiring and which wires? I appreciate your help and time. Stiver

Actually if that has a factory keyless the lock should just be negative trigger and pulsing the driver door trigger  while locking should arm the factory alarm

Could you please explain what you mean by pulsing the driver door trigger. Thanks, Stiver.  Also, the syestem is keyless. Why is it not possible to tap in and use the oem system instead of using a 5-wire?  SP

typically if the ford has a factory keyless entry then yes it has two small ga. wires that will trigger the factory relays, however sometimes you can't get to them and you have to 5 wire... just depends I guess.

If you look in the owners manual and read up on the factory security it says there are two ways to arm the factory security.

1. use key transmitter and just hit the button.

2.  Open drivers door and hit the lock button the door panel.

So....you have to duplicate this process with your aftermarket unit.  1.  You would have to tap into the factory keyless and find the factory alarm input wire....which require you to open up the factory security brain.....not a good option.

2.  would require you to make the car think that the door is open when the lock wire is pulsed.  Typically you can wire up relay to also pulse the door trigger wire at the same time as the lock wire is pulsed.....effectively making the car think that the door was open when the lock button was pressed.

Use a relay to pulse the door trigger and use the lock output wire from the DEI to activate that same relay.  Make sure you wire the relay up for the correct door trigger polarity.

Thanks for the help. I'm not exactly sure about how to jump the factory system but I think I've got it. All in all I won't loose any sleep if I won't be able to arm the factory system, I thought it would be nice if I could. I ordered a 5-wire just to be safe. I am a little perplexed as to how it works but this is my first time dealing with a ford. I do a lot better installing custom audio and building custom sub enclosures.  SP
