I do a quite a lot of RAV4s, and when I get around to it, I'm going to write up a detailed article with the shortcuts I've found. Meanwhile, the highlights:

They don't make a hatchback RAV4 anymore, do they? As long as you have a swing-out tailgate, it unlocks when you unlock all the other doors; there is no "trunk release" wire to hook up at all.

All of the wires coming from the steering column, including the parking lights, go off to the left, and then run along the top of the fuse box. You can tie into them at whatever point is most convenient for you.

It is probably easier to get the GREEN / WHITE brake wire in the driver's kick panel, rather than trying to reach up to the brake switch itself.

The unlock wire is not "double pulse." Rather, one pulse will unlock the driver's door, and a second pulse (if applied within two seconds) will unlock all the other doors, including the tailgate. If you alarm has two-stage unlocking, tie both wires directly into the blue / YELLOW.

Also, it should be mentioned that the blue/orange and blue / YELLOW wires are operated by turning the key in the driver's door, not by operating the Lock/Unlock switch. When you use your test light or meter to verify the wires, reach out the window and turn the key in the door to test them.

For the door trigger on your alarm, there is a one-wire solution. No need to go chasing all over the car and getting separate wires and diode-isolating them. Pop out the driver's door sill. Pull up the carpeting a little. You'll see a channel running under the driver's seat with wires in it. Some of the wires are coming from the front of the car, some from the rear. There's a thin red wire in there, coming from the rear of the car. It's negative trigger, and it catches all doors, including the tailgate. (If none of what I'm saying makes sense, it will once you get the car apart and see what I'm talking about.)

You need to make sure that your ignition wires are reciving 12 + when remote started . Did you power up the ignition wires ?

Well here wht I did.  from the starter harness there is 6 wires.  2 is red which goes to constant 12V.  A gray one that goes to ACC.  A pink wire that goes to IGN, Pink/white that goes to IGN 2, and a brown wire that goes to starter.

Ok now this is wht is did the Pink wire I connect to Black, the Pink/White wire I connect to BLACK / YELLOW, Gray wire I connect to Blue/Red, and Brown wire I connect to Red.    Now from the relay  I have 4 wires.  2 Orange, blue and yellow.  The 2 orange connect to the starter that I cut and connect one end to one orange and the other end to the other orange before the brown wire.  Now the yellow wire of the relay is connect to a orange wire from the alarm.  Then the blue wire from the relay is connected with the Pink wire and Black (IGN) which is suppose to be "on" & hot through cranking.  Now wht can go wrong!!!!

Wht if I split the pink wire and connect it to both the black and BLACK / YELLOW?  Will that do anything?

Also something else happen I dont know how.  But it start but then doesn't stop cranking, then also It start for a few second then stop then start again then stop.  Gonna ruin my starter!!  Any help is appreciated.  Sorry to bother you or who ever.  Thanks

Slightly off-topic, but related:

I am trying to find the road-speed senor signal, but on my 1998 UK RAV ECU I have three connectors: 26 pin (A), 16 pin (B) and 12 pin (C), which seems different to your descriptions. The only violet/white wire I have is on C11 and goes to the engine malfunction indicator lamp (according to the circuit diagram from my local garage) - not road speed, methinks!

Can anyone shed any light on the matter? I thought wiring colours/standards were pretty much the same the world over for RAVs?

Thanks,

- Paul

Where did you get the TACH signal from ?? Sounds like a tach programming issue. All the wire seem right ( except the 2nd ignition wire ) but that is another problem but does not sound like it is related to what you are having problems with.
