I am re doing the stereo for my 89'BMW 735i and need any info I can get. Apparently no harness will do and its all new wires from scratch(as you Bimmer installers may know). I have pulled the HU and the stock amp.Not your typical wire colors goin on here. What is the best way to approach this. Should I run new power wire from battery or off one of the remaining wires(my multimeter is MIA at the moment)? I have a new Alpine HU,4 channel amp, speakers and most of the wires and cables I need. Any assistance or direction would be great.

Thanks

This ought to get you started, it is safe to use the factory harness wires for your HU install. You may need to locate another DMM if you can't find yours, the diagram for your car has very limited information, but will get your HU in, you will need to located the constant +12V in the harness. You should have that one licked.

As for the speaker wires, instead of hacking up all the rest of the harnesses for the factory amplifier, you will probably be better off just running new wires from your amplifier.

The rest of the install will be basic, there are no other factors that will complicate the rest. Just take your time, and test all of your wires.
