I'm installing an amplifier using the factory stereo (as I do not have enough money to buy an aftermarket one) and I'm wondering what I should do with the remote wire to turn it on. The guy at walmart told me to just use a key-on wire (any wire that turns on with the key) anywhere in the harness, and to test it with the test light. Can anyone tell me where in the harness (or approximate location) and what color wires would be a good remote wire?

I'm posting here because the car information posted here is a little bit hard for me to read. I'm not sure if the switched 12v is on with the key or just zaps something to tell it to start, and if the constant 12v is on with the key or is constantly getting power from the battery.

It may be a little hard to understand the above but any help would be great. Thanks

The 12V remote wire can be found at the radio harness wire. If you have a test light you will note that one wire will light up when you turn with the key to ignition.   If it lights up without turning the key then you have the Constant power and not the Remote wire that you are looking for.
